TRANSMISSION 002 -- INCOMING

Hello stranger. Or, drastically more often: hello, me!

I think that's an often understated aspect of the "indie" web: sure, there are webrings, cities, neighborhoods, and cliques. There's real community to be found in this movement.

But for a lot of people, I reckon a personal, anonymous (if you so wish), unequivocally-yours piece of internet real-estate is appealing in its ability to give its authors a place to use their voice, unfiltered and unfettered.

It's not 4chan

That last sentence immediately made me recoil because it sounds a lot like the reason people use anonymous forums like the, uhm, aforementioned. THIS IS NOT A FORUM. It's an echo-chamber of one, with the random passerby welcome to tune in. So maybe that makes it better, who really knows..?

so what is it?

As with many entries to the indie web that I've come across: it is an unfinished, half-baked mess, which will grow and change as I do. So the answer is, I really do not know! But I do know that it will (at least for now) include:

TODAY

  • random transmissions of my thoughts on, well, whatever I'm thinking about. might be games, might be politics, might be programming, might be movies, and it might be something else ENTIRELY!
    • I'm supporting two forms of posts for now - dispatches, and essays (like this one).
  • the TAPE VAULT, which stores artifacts like pictures, stats, code snippets, and the like.

SOON:

  • I'll be letting you filthy animals get a word in (but not too many - IT'S NOT 4CHAN!) with call-ins (weekly polls), and fan-mail (a guestbook).

Thanks for tuning in.
